چکیده

| In this paper, we describe models and algorithms designed to produce eecient and physically consistent dynamic simulations. These models and algorithms have been implemented in a unique framework, modeling both deformations and contacts through visco-elastic relations. Since this model of interaction (known as \penalty based") is much debated, we present a compared study of two contact models; \penalty" and \impulse". Indeed, the \penalty" based model is supposed to have two major drawbacks :-determining the visco-elastic parameters and-choosing the computation time step. We present a solution for both problems based on physical concepts. Finally, we will present results comparing real data, \impulse" based simulation and \penalty" based simulation. Real-time Global Deformations∗

Real-time simulation and animation of 3D global deformations is the bottleneck of many applications, such as surgical simulator. In this paper, we present a system that simulates physically realistic large deformations of soft objects in real-time. We achieve the physical realism by modeling the global deformation using geometrically nonlinear finite element methods. We achieve real-time dynami...

Fluid-Structure Interaction Simulation of Detonation-Driven Rupture Events of Thin-Walled Tubes with a Parallel Adaptive Level Set Method

Technically relevant fluid-structure interaction simulation of detonation-induced dynamic response of thin-walled solid structures requires an efficient detonation solver that can cope with large deformations as well as arbitrary topology changes of the computational domain. We present a parallel adaptive method that uses a scalar level set function to represent embedded evolving solid boundari...

An Improved Lubrication Model between Piston Rings and Cylinder Liners with Consideration of Liner Dynamic Deformations

The friction pair of piston rings and cylinder liner is one of the most important friction couplings in an internal combustion engine. It influences engine efficiency and service life. Under the excitation of piston slaps, the dynamic deformation of cylinder liner is close to the surface roughness magnitudes, which can affect the friction and lubrication performance between the piston rings and...

A framework for local terrain deformation based on diffusion theory

Terrains have a key role in making outdoor virtual scenes believable and immersive as they form the support for every other natural element in the scene. Although important, terrains are often given limited interactivity in real-time applications. However, in nature, terrains are dynamic and interact with the rest of the environment changing shape on different levels, from tracks left by a pers...

Realistic Haptics Interaction in Complex Virtual Environments

Simulating interactive behavior of objects such as soft tissues in surgical simulation or in control engine of VR applications has been extensively studied. Adding haptic information such as vibration, tactile array, force feedback simulation enhances the sense of presence in virtual environments. Recreating the realistic contact forces the user would perceive when interacting the virtual objec...
